2007 continued the trend set in 2006 of stabilizing the market after the booming 2005. Sales have remained strong yet narrowed market. $500,000 to $1,000,000 homes had a very strong year. Townhome and redevelopment projects are still arising and going strong to bring some new life into the in-town market.
Durango has typically had a stronger market than many other areas-as recent years have demonstrated-with the biggest market share going to Baby Boomers as they move towards vacation and retirement homes away from their bustling lives in cities across the country. Homes and condos across the country selling for $500,000 and up had great years in '05 and '06 and Durango expecting the same for the near future. I expect to see continued growth in all areas of the market, especially in the exclusive North Valley stretching up to Durango Mountain Resort and just south of town stretching out towards the airport. The space between Durango and its airport is where smaller homes will flourish on the Mesa.
People love Durango for it's people, its tight knit relationship with the wild outdoors, for its long history with the Wild West and for its perceived distance from the hustle and bustle of big city life. Those things will never
